First-Home Buyers Grant Queensland
On 1 September 2008, Queensland first home buyers buying a home valued up to $500,000 do not have to pay stamp duty. The state based concession is only applicable to contracts signed on or after 1 September, 2008.
Example
If you are a first home buyer buying a home valued at $500,000 after 1 September 2008, you save $8,750 that you previously would have had to pay for transfer duty.

Mortgage Duty Abolished in Queensland
To encourage first home buyers in Queensland to escape the rental trap and get into the property market sooner, mortgage duty was abolished in Queensland on 1 July 2008.
